Aspen Acres Fire Relief — Community Donation Drive
Celememorate™ and its partners are rallying Colorado to help neighbors displaced by the Aspen Acres Fire in Custer and Pueblo counties. Volunteers — including seniors at the Heather Gardens retirement community — have assembled more than 1,500 care packages for firefighters and displaced Coloradans, with a meat donation from Costco and boxes of food gathered in Fremont County.
Items needed: water, clean clothes, gas donations, dog & cat food, non-perishable food, and personal hygiene products.

Denver Metro Residents Step Up to Help Wildfire Victims with Donations
CBS News Colorado · July 10, 2026. Denver-area businesses, veterans’ groups, and seniors at the Heather Gardens retirement community — rallied by Big Tony — assembled more than 1,500 care packages and loaded a bus with water, non-perishables, and supplies for residents and first responders displaced by the Aspen Acres Fire in southern Colorado.

Air Force veteran Big Tony walked more than 20 miles overnight to Denver International Airport — an American flag over his shoulder — to raise money and awareness for TSA workers going without pay during the government shutdown, delivering gift cards, food, and supplies when he arrived.

Honor Flags Returned to Colorado Families
When the Marshall Fire destroyed hundreds of Colorado homes, some families lost the folded flag that had honored a veteran they loved. In a 2023 ceremony at Bandimere Speedway, Big Tony joined the honor-flag replacement effort — led by Mark Karpowich of Mudrock Tap & Tavern — to help give those flags back. The Young Marines presented the folded flags, and a skydiving team delivered the first flag into a packed speedway. “I can’t replace your home,” Big Tony told the families, “but I can get you your flag back.” The effort has since expanded to replace flags lost by families in the 2024 hurricanes.
